Travel Resources
This page lists all my favorite travel resources for finding flights, accommodation, transportation, travel insurance, and activities. I’m excited to share them to help you plan your dream vacations. I only recommend products I personally use and trust. Happy planning!
Flights

Google Flights
I typically start my search here. Google Flights pulls information directly from airline carriers. It’s ideal for checking fares, connections, and routes for your chosen destinations and dates.

Skyscanner
My go-to site for booking flights. Skyscanner offers discounted fares for specific or flexible dates. I often look at an entire month to find the best deals. When you’re ready to purchase your ticket, you’ll be directed to the airline’s website to complete your booking.

Going
Formerly known as Scott’s Cheap Flights, Going is excellent for travelers with flexible dates and destinations in the U.S. After signing up for either the free or paid version, you’ll receive personalized emails featuring great flight deals.
Accomodation

Booking.com
My favorite site for booking hotels. It offers a wide range of accommodations, including hotels, apartments, bed-and-breakfasts, villas, and more. I always filter my search by price and best reviews. The best part is you can book without paying upfront, and cancellations are usually free until a certain date before your trip. Join their Genius loyalty program for additional discounts.

Airbnb
My preferred platform for booking unique accommodation since it first launched. I love the vast selection of accommodation types. Airbnb connects you directly with local hosts who often provide personalized recommendations for activities, restaurants, etc. Be aware of overly commercialized listings as they tend to kill the authenticity of the experience. Do your homework and read reviews carefully! Airbnb requires payment up front, so always check cancellation policies and read the fine print.

VRBO
Similar to Airbnb, VRBO allows hosts to list properties ranging from single rooms to entire homes. It also requires an upfront payment, so reading reviews is crucial. I often compare VRBO and Airbnb to find the best availability and pricing. I noticed that prices sometimes vary significantly, so comparing platforms is beneficial. Join VRBO’s rewards program to earn and redeem OneKeyCash on future bookings.

Hostelword
The only site I use for booking hostels due to its extensive inventory, availability, and excellent locations. You can guarantee your booking without upfront payment.

iOverlander
My favorite app for finding campsites, whether established campgrounds or dispersed camping sites. It integrates with Google Maps or Maps.me for offline navigation and offers user-generated reviews and photos. It also helps find additional resources like water, dump stations, showers, etc. The free version has always met my needs.
I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list.

Transportation

Rentalcars.com
This site has the largest selection of rental cars available in over 60,000 locations worldwide. No hidden fees, and cancellations are free up to 48 hours before pickup. Scroll through until you find something that fits your budget and needs.

Uber
My preferred alternative to taxis. Once your account is set up, you can request rides directly from your phone anywhere in the world. Uber is generally cheaper than taxis and allows you to track your route for safety reasons. It’s also an excellent way to chat with locals and get recommendations.

Outdoorsy
Outdoorsy is like Airbnb but for RV rentals. Perfect for road trips, Outdoorsy lets you rent privately owned RVs in North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Search for a vehicle that matches your needs and your budget. Rentals include roadside assistance and customer support.
Travel Insurance
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Lao Tzu

World Nomads
My top choice for travel insurance, especially as an active traveler. They cover up to 250 outdoor activities, including extreme sports, and provide coverage for emergency medical care, lost luggage, stolen gear, and even pet boarding.

Safety Wing
Ideal for digital nomads or long-term travelers, Safety Wing offers affordable coverage, 24/7 customer support, easy claim processing, and the ability to purchase coverage even when already abroad.
Activity Planning

GetYourGuide
My go-to site for booking unique tours and activities worldwide. You’ll find everything from sightseeing and cultural experiences to historical sites, food tours, nature adventures, and more. I always find the most fun and unique experiences here.

Viator
Similar to GetYourGuide, Viator offers a wide variety of tours and has been around longer. I usually check Viator if I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for on GetYourGuide. I’ve consistently had great experiences using Viator.
