About Me

Blogger | Globetrotter | Adventure Seeker

Hi there! I’m Sylwia, which is pronounced “Sylvia.” I’m a data manager by day and a globetrotter and blogger any other time.

My travel journey started in my late teens.  After completing my freshman year, I packed my suitcase (yes, one suitcase) and left Poland for a year journey to the United States. I planned on taking a year off from my English as a Second Language (ESL) studies to move abroad and work on my English-speaking skills, because how much of a foreign language can you really learn without immersing yourself in it? I wanted to be an English teacher, but as I’m an introvert who hates public speaking, I soon abandoned that idea. Instead, I decided to continue my education in the U.S. in the more introvert-friendly field of psychology. During my undergraduate years, I took part in study abroad programs to China and to England. While living in the U.K., I managed to visit half of western Europe with my new friends.

And my journey continues… although I currently have a full-time job that I really enjoy, I try to get away to explore new destinations as often as I can from my home base in Indianapolis.

Why Curious Wanderess?

I was looking for a way to organize all my travel memories in one spot, but I thought “why keep it all to myself?!”

My intention with this blog is to inspire you to travel more by sharing beautiful destinations I’ve enjoyed, along with my photos, travel stories, and tips. I want to show you how to fit more travel into your life – and by “travel” I mean anything from exploring your own backyard to faraway destinations. I love photography, history, and the outdoors, so you can expect to see a lot of that!

Say hello

Feel free to reach out if you have any travel-related questions, if there is anything specific you’d like me to cover in the future, or if you just want and say hello and introduce yourself to a fellow traveler. I’d love to hear from you! Leave me a comment here on the blog or email me at hello@curiouswanderess.com.

That’s a little bit about me and my blog. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by my blog. Please venture around. Hopefully, you’ll find some content that suits your needs. Welcome to my blog!
